Collaborative & Group Learning

We design collaborative learning spaces to foster teamwork, communication, and active learning. Flexibility is key, with movable furniture, round tables, and open layouts that support group discussions, brainstorming, and project work.

Group spaces are ideally located in informal, accessible zones, like libraries, student hubs, or adjacent to teaching areas, encouraging peer-to-peer interaction and accommodating different group sizes and learning styles.

Technology is seamlessly integrated, from shared digital displays to interactive whiteboards, ensuring students can collaborate visually and digitally.

Town Hall & Learn & Share Spaces

Ben Johnson Interiors has extensive experience delivering Town Hall and Learn & Share spaces in both educational and office environments. These areas bring students and staff together for presentations, discussions, and collaborative events. They often feature tiered or mobile seating, flexible partitions, and acoustic treatments, allowing the space to double as a breakout area when not in use.

Thoughtful design ensures lighting, climate control, acoustics, and integrated technology support both formal and informal activities. Flexible separation options, such as bi-fold walls, acoustic panels, or curtains, allow the space to function independently without disrupting adjacent areas, while accommodating speakers, screens, and other technology with ease.

Student Hub / Café areas

A university café is more than a place to eat—it’s a hub for social interaction, study, and collaboration. Comfort and flexibility are key, with a mix of seating such as sofas, lounge chairs, high tables, and quiet study pods to support both individual work and group discussions. Our consultants ensure layouts balance inspiring design with functionality, including circulation, café access, power outlets, Wi-Fi, and digital screens.

We also focus on infrastructure, collaborating with mechanical and electrical teams to ensure the space works seamlessly. Feature lighting, biophilic elements, durable materials, and careful acoustic planning create a vibrant, functional environment where lively conversation and quiet study coexist.
