The Brief

Bruntwood SciTech are committed to offering outstanding coworking environments. When a space became available in Platform, Leeds, the decision was made to transform it into a high-quality coworking hub. The new Platform Coworking space was designed to include nine secure private offices of varying sizes, along with shared welfare facilities, meeting rooms, quiet rooms, and phone booths.

Each private office was fully fitted out with carpets, décor, suspended lighting, fast Wi-Fi, power, and desking. Every element needed to reflect the Bruntwood SciTech commitment to quality, comfort, and contemporary design.

The Solution

Platform is a busy, city-centre occupied office building located directly above Leeds railway station, so meticulous planning was essential. We worked within strict operational constraints, scheduling noisy works outside of business hours and managing all deliveries through limited out-of-hours slots.

The project began with a complete strip-out of the existing space, including the sustainable recycling of redundant glazing. A Bruntwood Scitech coworking space is never a standard or characterless fit-out—it is always crafted to a high specification. At Platform, the walls feature an on-trend border in neutral tones of green, cream, and burnt orange, creating a warm and contemporary aesthetic.

Acoustic performance was a key priority: all solid partitions were installed slab-to-slab to achieve excellent sound separation, and where glazing was required, acoustic-grade crittal glazing was used. Continuing the acoustic theme, solid oak doors with vision panels were fitted throughout, complemented by bespoke signage to support intuitive wayfinding.

A strong sense of community shapes every Bruntwood Scitech workspace, and Platform embodies this through its welcoming lounge area, shared welfare kitchen, and softlit phone booths with curtains for added privacy and comfort. Every detail was selected to create a warm, functional, and enjoyable environment for its customer.

The Finished Project

When work began, the entire floor was vacant.
Upon completion, the space was fully let, with
occupiers immediately drawn to the blend of
well-designed private offices and engaging
communal areas.

The result is a vibrant coworking hub that
encourages collaboration, builds community,
and enhances tenant satisfaction—
strengthening the building’s reputation and
unlocking greater commercial value for the
asset.
